KSFR RADIO 101.1 FM SANTA FE, NM

Producer and Host: Abigail Adler

Guest: Joe Hayes, Storyteller

Joe Hayes has been a spell-binding story teller for 34 years. He spends a good part of his summer evenings regaling young and old alike on the grounds of the Wheelwright Museum in Santa Fe, NM. Hayes is a treasury of Spanish, Cuban, English and Irish folk tales. Hayes has written twenty-seven books for young people in Spanish and English.

Hayes grew up in a small Arizona town, south of Tucson, north of the Mexican border. After working as a surveyor for a mineral exploration company and as a high school English teacher, Hayes realized that what he really wanted to do was tell stories. In his early thirties, Hayes took that brave leap faith- leaving behind a steady paycheck to follow his heart and become a writer and a storyteller.
