Elizabeth J. Church grew up in Los Alamos, NM. It was an environment that gave her access both to nature and to female teachers who had advanced degrees in mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology, and other disciplines. Church practiced law for more than thirty years, focusing on mental health and constitutional law issues. A catastrophe in her life sent her in a new direction…back to her original dream of writing. She walked away from the law and wrote The Atomic Weight of Love

Robert Mayer is the author of fifteen books. Three of his books have been reissued in new editions during the past few years. They include Superfolks, which (for better or worse) altered the treatment of super heroes in comics and movies forever; Notes of a Baseball Dreamer, a memoir about growing up as a wannabe major leaguer in New York City; and The Dreams of Ada, the true story of two men spending life in prison for a murder they did not commit.  Mayer's articles have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Vanity Fair, New York Magazine, Condé Naste Traveler,and many other publications.

Peter McCarthy Knew early on that what he really wanted was to move to LA and make films. That's just what he did, picking up an MFA in Film production at UCLA along the way. Since then he's racked up writing, directing and producing credits on such cult films as- REPO MAN in 1983 staring Emilio Estevez: TAPE HEADS staring Gary Oldman and the film Version of CAR 54 WHERE ARE YOU? for Orion Pictures. His latest project which he wrote produced and directed is an independent film: DEATH AND TAXES ---filmed here in NM

Lucy Moore is a writer and mediator.While living on the Navajo Reservation in the 1960s, Moore served as a Justice of the Peace, in addition to teaching and selling car insurance.Her first book, “Into the Canyon: Seven Years in Navajo Country” (University of New Mexico Press 2004) won the Best Memoir award from Women Writing the West in 2005. In her latest book, “Common Ground on Hostile Turf: Stories from an Environmental Mediator,” (Island Press 2013), Moore shares stories about 10 challenging, controversial situations she navigated as a mediator.

Robert Wilder wrote a column for The Santa Fe Reporter---the title-  Daddy Needs A Drink. The book is about the trials and tribulations of parenting two children…who are now well into their teens. Now there's the book --Daddy Needs A Drink and Tales From The Teacher's Lounge ,both published by Delacort-Random House. The books have been optioned for film and a TV series. Meanwhile, Wilder continues to teach English to teens and also runs workshops for adults.

Lauren Camp is the author of two collections of poetry, This Business of Wisdom  and The Dailiness , winner of the National Federation of Press Women 2014 Poetry Book Prize. In addition to her books, Camp has released a CD of her poetic fragments based on collected women’s stories, entitled "I am and You are". She has performed at libraries, theaters, house concerts, cafés, art centers and outdoors — frequently in collaboration with jazz and experimental musicians. Camp began her creative career as a visual artist exhibiting both nationally and internationally.

Since Ellen Berkovitch arrived in New Mexico in 1993, she has published articles in Artforum, Art&Auction, Los Angeles Weekly, The New York Times, and many design publications. Berkovitch was a staff writer for Santa Fe New Mexican-Pasatiempo. Leaping into the digital world- in Martch 2009- Berlkovitch became publisher and editor of the online arts magazine of AdobeAirstream, the first daily online magazine for cultural creatives in the Rocky Mountain West. AdobeAirstream.  In 2016, Ellen Berkovitch became News Director at KSFR Radio.

Guest: Joe Hayes, Storyteller

Joe Hayes has been a spell-binding story teller for 34 years. He spends a good part of his summer evenings regaling young and old alike on the grounds of the Wheelwright Museum in Santa Fe, NM. Hayes is a treasury of Spanish, Cuban, English and Irish folk tales. Hayes has written twenty-seven books for young people in Spanish and English.

Hayes grew up in a small Arizona town, south of Tucson, north of the Mexican border. After working as a surveyor for a mineral exploration company and as a high school English teacher, Hayes realized that what he really wanted to do was tell stories. In his early thirties, Hayes took that brave leap faith- leaving behind a steady paycheck to follow his heart and become a writer and a storyteller.

Guest: Henry Shukman

Henry Shukman has published books of fiction, memoir and poetry. His poems have appeared in many publications including the New Republic, The Guardian, The Times and the London Review of Books. He has been a travel writer for the New York Times. Shukman has also written book reviews for the New York Times and The Times Literary Supplement.

Henry Shukman is a Zen Buddhist teacher in the Sanbo Zen lineage. He is currently the teacher at Mountain Cloud Zen Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His articles about Buddhism have appeared in Tricycle and other Buddhist publications.
