Wingate's most recent novel, Before We Were Yours, has been on the New York Times Bestseller List for more than one year- and, it is currently number one on the NY Times bestseller list. The book is Publishers Weekly’s #3 longest running bestseller of 2017. Before We Were Yours has, to date, sold nearly 2 million copies. It has just come out in paperback.
Wingate's writing career began late: after college, after marriage, after a career as a journalist and technical writer, and then the birth of her oldest son .
Wingate says she was lucky to marry into a big family of Southern tall-tale enthusiasts who never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
