Sue Nelson's latest book, Wally Funk's Race For Space… The Extraordinary Story of a Female Aviation Pioneer- has just come out in the United States. It was first published in Great Britain.
The book puts readers in a a front seat as Nelson travels with the talented, brilliant and eccentric Wally Funk. Funk was one of the women in the U.S. space program which originally included women in 1962. Now in her 80's Funk hasn't given up her dream of space travel.
Author Sue Nelson is a former BBC TV and radio correspondent, presenter and producer. Nelson also was editor of The Biologist. Her field of expertise is science, technology and environment. Nelson has received acclaim and awards for her radio productions: Right Stuff Wrong Sex: Female Astronauts and Women with the Right Stuff. Sue Nelson now makes films for the European Space Agency. She also hosts the podcast Space Boffins.
Nelson studied physics at University College Cardiff. She won a Knight-Wallace Fellowship to the University of Michigan in 2004.
