KSFR RADIO 101.1 FM SANTA FE NM

Producer and Host: Abigail Adler

Guest: Elizabeth Rose

Deep in the Himalayan foothills, ELIZABETH ROSE was born by the light of a hurricane lamp on the dining room table. It was the last decade of the British Raj. The British rule in India. The adventure begins there.

Elizabeth was shipped off from India at age seven to a children's home in England, There She roamed the moors , she became a feral child: taking in the wildness of the landscape. There her imagination developed un-schooled and un-censored.Elizabeth Rose became a writer, poet and sculptor. Also a wife, mother and speech pathologist.

Her book, Poet Under A Soldier's Hat, is the adventurous story of her birth father, Hugh Rose. Elizabeth Rose combines material from her birth fathers extensive diaries and her own research to create a fascinating story of military life and secret artistic passion. The tale unfolds with adulterous affairs, illegitimate pregnancies and banishment.

Rose emigrated from England in 1986 and now lives and works in Galisteo, New Mexico. Rose has received more than a dozen writers awards.
